Overview
The Graduate Students’ Association of Ghana in the United States of America (GRASAG-USA) is a registered non-profit organization under the laws of the State of Maryland in the United States of America, and federally recognized 501 (c) (3) organization under the income tax exempt status of the Internal Revenue Service of the United States of America.
It is also the maiden chapter of

The association was established in 2016 to create a formidable voice and a vibrant community of Ghanaian Graduate Students in the USA. Primarily, GRASAG-USA serves as a collaborative platform that connects, develops, and enriches the academic and professional capabilities of all members – senior colleagues (graduate members) and junior colleagues (undergraduate members) inclusively.
The Association has a Board of Patrons and Advisors who oversee the operations of the association in accordance with the provisions under the Maryland articles of incorporation and operationally led by the President and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Anani Yao Kuwornu, BA, MA, MPhil – a doctoral candidate at the University of Maryland, College Park. In 2026, GRASAG-USA will celebrate a decade of its existence.
